Two-Year Standard Warranty

In order to ensure that ASHP performance is as expected the Mechanical & Electrical contractor is obliged to follow all appropriate local construction standards as well as to adhere to published Operation and Maintenance Manual instructions for that specific model. Moreover, in order to qualify for the standard two year warranty all S-ASX units must have been specifically signed off at Commissioning stage as being warranty compliant.

The standard two year warranty commences from the date of signed commissioning certificate, or no later than six months from the delivery date. For the avoidance of doubt the standard two year warranty covers both materials and labour that may be needed in the event of an approved warranty event.

For a warranty event to be valid the following non-exhaustive list of compliances must have been observed during the installation phase:

• The installed size of the Thermal Store(s), the sizing of the inter-connecting pipework between ASHP(s) and Thermal Stores or Calorifiers, should meet the Strebel minimum requirements to work at full load.
• Cascaded ASHP must be piped up in a reverse return configuration.
• Cascaded Thermal Stores must be piped up in a series configuration.

For the heat pump to work without fault the flow rate either side of the integral heat exchanger must be balanced. As a result pipe sizing and configuration are extremely important elements of design and installation.

• The supplied anti-vibration dampers are to have been fitted between the base of the ASHP and the site base.
• Minimum clearances around the units are adhered to in order to allow air flow and/or maintenance servicing.
• The unit remote enabling is done via the correct terminals.
• Cascaded ASHP are controlled exclusively by the Strebel cascade controller, including the Strebel supplied thermal store and outside temperature sensors. Note that if an external control, BMS or otherwise, is turning the ASHP on and off outside it’s normal intended operation then this will invalidate the unit warranty.

Additionally, and critically, warranty will only be considered valid if the units have not been switched on before a Strebel Commissioning Engineer has attended site to commission them.

Notwithstanding all the above all other Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale remain in place as usual.

Extended Warranty: Additional Five Years

In the event that a valid two year standard warranty has been in place it is possible, at the time of this expiry, to extend this for a period up to an additional five years, making it possible to have the ASHP fully covered under warranty for up to seven years following commissioning. For clarity, if the initial two-year warranty has not been in place it is not possible, under any circumstances, to offer any extended warranty period.

Any such extended warranty would exclusively relate to the Air Source Heat Pump unit and would also be dependent upon there having been no system side modifications following the original commissioning – such as unplanned additional load being added, or pipework modifications being made. If such modification have been made it is necessary to obtain written confirmation from Strebel as to whether these will impact on any extended warranty.

An annual charge per machine will be quoted for each additional year for the extended warranty. Upon agreement in writing, on a project by project basis, this will be invoiced and paid in full in advance of the covered period, on an annual basis if for more than a single year.
